Line up for the races!

This will be the second West Coast Vintage Volvo Race. The first one was in 2010 with CSRG in Sonoma, but this year it will be run with VARA (Vintage Auto Racing Association) at Las Vegas International Raceway. The dates are October 4th to 6th, 2013. All Volvos and Saabs will run in VARA’s regular run groups twice each day, but there will also be a dedicated All Volvo & Saab race on Friday and Saturday. Friday is an optional test day but the Friday Volvo/Saab race will be included in the basic entry fee for racers.

The weather should be great in early October and besideS the racing there will be a designated area near the race car pits for a Volvo/Saab Car Show and any related Vendors. We plan to do plenty of socializing and the Vegas strip is close by. VARA will get all racers and spectators a great group deal on hotel accommodations. Generally, entry to the track for spectators is $10 or $15 for the whole weekend. You can’t even park for that amount of money at any sports event in San Diego!

We are hoping to attract 15-20 Volvo and Saab vintage race cars and all 1979 and earlier models should be well represented. We attracted 17 cars at the last event in 2010, so I’m hoping for at least that many racers this year.

We’d love to see lots of SoCal participation and support to make this event a great success. Who knows, if it is well supported this MAY become an annual event.
